CONTRIBUTION IN THE FREEDOM STRUGGLE


  1. In 1930, the Hero of Peshawar incident, Late Chandrasingh Garhwali and his 1800 soldiers were arrested by the British Government then ruling India, on the charge of treachery. Garhwal Bhratri Mandal joined hands with the senior leaders of freedom struggle like Mandan Mohan Malviya, Sardar Patel, Sarojini Naidu and Motilal Nehru in organizing grand demonstration against the unjustified arrest of Chandrasingh Garhwali and his soldiers.

  2. In 1934 Mandal established Garhwal Volunteer Core to extend help to the leaders of freedom struggle. For this, the leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel gave appreciation letter to the Mandal.

  3. During Bihar and Queta earthquake, Mandal contributed in the Kasturba Fund.

  4. Mandal also presented cash reward to Chandrasingh Garhwali for his commendable work.

    3. Registration of the Mandal under the Public Trusts Act.

    During the tenure of this committee, on 30th September 1966, the first ever public reception was given to the Jawans of the Garhwal Rifles at the Shanmukhananda Sabhagriha and a Sword and Cash was presented to them.

    3. Registration of the Garhwal Sahakari Bhavan Samiti Ltd. Which has constructed GARHWAL DARSHAN, a residential building, in Jogeshwari, Mumbai. Major work for this noble cause was done by Late Girdharilal Arya. Garhwal Bhratri Mandal has its office in Garhwal Darshan, Jogeshwari.

Constitution of Kala Sakha (a Cultural Wing of Garhwal Bhratri Mandal) consisting of local amateur artistes whilch presented very successful cultural show of Hill Folk Songs and Dances on 17th March 1978 in Bhaidas Sabhagriha, Vile Parle, Mumbai. This programme was covered by Mumbai Doordarshan.
    4. Publication of HILANS, as a house magazine of the Mandal.

    4. Repair of the Sarvajanik Hanuman Mandir at Sewri, Mumbai, handed over to the Mandal by late R.K. Bhatt.
    5. Financial help to the children of a widow for one year.
    6. Presentation of hilarious comedy play PATI PATNI at Karnatak Sangha, Mumbai, on 6th June 1985 and also one more Hindi Play by the artistes of the Mandal.

        3. Purchase of permanent office in Garhwal Darshan.
